Who doesn’t want traffic? In driving traffic to our site we often work in two areas, we work first with on page factors, and then we work with off page factors. One page factors are writing with a keyword or better yet, a key phrase in mind. It is important to write with a key subject otherwise our writing becomes unfocused. We also must drive off page ranking factors, what is the best way to do that? The best way to drive this is to work on a link strategy. There are good ways to create links, and there linking mistakes that many people make.
Judging a site by its page rank isn’t the major factor anymore. Many say that page rank isn’t that relative anyone. Google is uses page rank as a factor, but it is no longer the primary factor in the search engines driving traffic to your site. Page rank is only updated once a quarter. There is now something called MozRank. MozRank takes into account how relevant a site is to the key word as a whole.
Building back links, study your competition, you want to have more back links than your competition does. Using a tools like the SEOquake toolbar is a great way to see how many links your competition has, then strive to have more than they do. If you can look for sites that are relevant to yours, and try to get back links on sites that are relevant to your site. You don’t need to build a million links, just more than your competition has.
Have more than one keyword in mind, it is extremely difficult to rank for one keyword. Think of a key phrase, and then variants on that key phrase. Rarely do people search for what we hope they will. You need to have a great variety of key words in mind when you write and construct your posts. This way you can naturally capture the multiple ways people search for content.
When you are building links to your site, do so to a variety of pages within your site. People naturally link to different pages in a site, they don’t link to just the home page, so don’t link to just the homepage, choose a variety of pages to link to, and that will appear more natural in the search engines and your SERP will rise accordingly.
